I have some work that is included in the Art Photography Showcase on Etsy today – be sure to stop by and check it out!!
A few years back when I started my temp assignment, I worked with a sweet gal who was in the process of adopting a darling little boy from Guatemala. She and her husband worked very hard to put together a cookbook to assist in fund raising, and I was super bummed I missed out on it.
They have since decided that it is God’s will for them to adopt again, this time a little girl from China. Since the first round of cookbooks went over like gang-busters, they decided to do it again, this time with the help of the Internet! I know it’s hard to purchase something that will benefit some one in such a personal way when you don’t know them at all, but if you’re so inclined I know it will be greatly appreciated!
The cookbooks are lovely and would make fantastic gifts for the Holidays or birthdays; the recipes are easy to follow and look very YUMMY!
Take a couple minutes to check it out, and if you decide to help them out, my sincere thanks to you!
Ok, not really…well, not yet any way…Friday is my birthday!
I thought that it might be nice to put together a list of gift ideas, suitable for any occasion; I’ll be turning 28, so I guess this list would be good for any girl in their 20’s or even 30’s I imagine, and for any one who likes fun, funky, and functional items…
Another successful swap to put in the books!
In this first post I’ll share pictures of the items I crafted, as well as a couple extra vintage goodies, for good measure. I also included some vintage wrapping paper from the late 40’s and 50’s, but didn’t get a picture of that!

The Whole She-Bang - Coasters, a sweater guard, kitchy frosted pine cone trees, a vintage Jewel-Brite ornament, and a vintage snowman cookie cutter.Vintage-inspired Coasters - I hope to have a tutorial for these in the next couple of weeks!
Stay tuned for the next installment to see what lovely items I received!
So, once again I’ve been MIA…sorry about that!
I’ve been busy with crafty stuff, though, so that means new things to post! Yay!
I participated in a swap on Craftster with a Halloween theme – aptly enough, it was called the Easy-Peasy 3-Point Halloween Swap. I was paired up with a wonderful gal who spoiled me rotten! First, here are the things I sent:
A felt flower pin:
Flannel backing serves as a cozy home for these quaint pumpkins – all pieces were cut and sewn by hand. It hangs from black ribbon, which is attached to the wall hanging with little leaf buttons. My swap partner indicated she wanted a wall hanging…which worked out well, because I already had it in my head to make something like this!
And here is the whole package ready to be wrapped and boxed up!
And now for the lovely package that my partner sent me!
One rather unfortunate aspects of craft swaps is the possibility of having a flaker among the group. I hate to call this gal’s partner a flake, because we’re a little concerned about her well-being. I do hope some one is able to get in touch with her soon! At any rate, I volunteered to put a package together for the other swapper:
There’s Little Witchy-Poo, some Halloween socks (store bought – I’m not that talented!), some ghostie earrings that I made, some cute Halloween coasters I picked up at a shop in Nashville, IN…oh, and the little masked mystery lady…
Here is a close up of the little witchy-poo…I think I might have to make a few more of these!
…and from the back…
I sure hope she likes it! Witchy-Poo is on her way to California – I hope she has a nice ride!
Up next: Vintage Christmas Swap on Craftster.org, Christmas Gift Tag Swap on Swap-Bot, and possibly a Handmade Christmas Ornament swap on Craftster…not sure if I’ll do that one though – as much as I’d love to, I know I might be biting off more than I can chew! I still have a Halloween costume to finish before next Friday! Eek!
What craftiness have you been up to lately?
NorthernGirlJewelry was kind enough to feature my work in a treasury today!
You can view the items in detail here: Morning Frost Treasury
Since I’ve been neglecting you all lately, I wanted to share a few freebies with you! (Yes, I am trying to bribe your love with free stuff…there, I said it. Think of it this way, by this logic, I should be posting freebies quite often…)
To get you in the mood for the season, I am working on more of these recipe cards for you to save and do with as you please. They make great gifts for holidays or great hostess gifts. All the cards I design feature seasonal vintage clip art, or vintage ephemera. I don’t sell them at all, so what you see here is what you get. To download your freebie, click on the image you’d like – this will take you to Flickr. Once you’re at the photo page, there will be a series of icons along the top of the picture – click the one that says “All Sizes” and has a little magnifying glass with +. Click ”Original” from the list of available sizes, then click “Download the Original Size” Save the image as usual, and feel a little warm and fuzzy inside because you just got something for free!
**Note – these are not for resale!**
First, a couple with recipes included on them…
..and this one features a recipe for a very simple, but tasty chili (it’s my go-to chili recipe, definitely not top secret, as you’ll see!) And I apologize for the cheesy name – I’m lame.
Ok, onto the blank cards for your yummy treats!
I hope to have more in the coming weeks. I’m working to finish up a swap project for Craftster, and I also have a Halloween costume to make, and a party to help plan, but I will try to get some more freebies for you…in the meantime, please enjoy these!
Check out this lovely treasury that InALather created and was so kind to include my “Docile Hope” print!
